What does AARP stand for?
AARP stands for the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons. The association is dedicated to promote the welfare of senior citizens.
The organization was founded in 1958 and has grown to 40 million members. AARP and has offices in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It is the nation’s largest membership organization for people 50 plus.
The AARP is a nonprofit organization. It positions itself as a “nonpartisan membership organization that helps people 50 and over improve the quality of their lives.”
