Multiple day tickets purchased at the same time generally are cheaper and off-resort rentals are sometimes $10-$15 less than the resort rental shop. Find out where you are going and try to get the ticket prices off the website. Gore-Tex gloves and pants are expensive. You can get several pairs of less expensive fleece gloves and swap out gloves if yours get soaked. Put Sno-Seal (beeswax) on some leather gloves and that will work too. Carhartt also makes a leather, waterproof glove that is a lot cheaper than a high-end Gore-Tex skiing glove. Mittens are always warmer than gloves. Water resistant ski pants can be gotten for under $60 and you can pick up some decent ski socks at backcountry.com. A lot of styles are 50% off.
