The Social Science and Human Services Department at BMCC is comprised of a wide variety of disciplines that study many facets of the human experience. Social Science courses are offered in the following disciplines: • ANT Anthropology • PHI Philosophy • ECO Economics • POL Political Science • GEO Geography • PSY Psychology • HIS History • SOC Sociology • HUM Human Services* • Also: Ethnic Studies courses cross-listed as one of the above Students must take courses from 4 different disciplines in the social sciences to meet the ** 12 credit requirement**. *Human Services, a career program in the department, offers up to 6 elective credits of Human Services courses (HUM) to Liberal Arts students. Students may take HUM 101, Introduction to Human Services, to fulfill one of their Social Sciences requirements and should consult with the program to take an additional course as an elective. More information about the Human Services Program is provided towards the end of this guide.
