What wine goes with cheese and crackers?

Red wines go best with cheese and crackers – the specific type of red wine really depends on the cheese you’re trying. Here are a couple cheese-and-wine pairing suggestions:
1. Sheep/Goat cheese: a light or full-bodied red like Rioja or Argentinean Malbec
2. Coated rind cheese (like Brie or Camembert): light to medium red wine like Pinot Noir
3. Hard cheese (like Gouda or Swiss): Italian Amarone
4. Blue cheese (like Gorgonzola): Bordeaux, Port and Madeira
5. Parmigiano-Reggiano: any red wine!

If you’re looking to host a wine and cheese party, I highly recommend having 3-5 bottles of red wine to serve.

Depends on the cheese I love manchego cheese with a big red wine like Merlot, Claret or Cab Sav. For brands: Ravenswood is pretty cheap stuff but their higher end bottles (no gold band around the white label) are very nice. Fourteen hands merlot, Clous du Bois’ Reserves are very good (their standard label is fair). Any Sonoma red is probably worth it or get a nice Argentine Malbec. Blue cheeses pair well with tawny ports, especially Stilton. For port I’d go with Optimo or anything aged. Soft cheeses like Brie and spicy/hot cheeses (Jack) need a sweet white, although I’ve seen Brie counter-paired with big red Merlots. I’d look at a good German Riesling (look for Auslese or Beerenauslese Rieslings). I like Chateau St. Michelle but you can find a decent Schmitt-Sohne that will satisfy just about anywhere. Your best bet, in all honesty, is to find a good liquor store and tell them what you’re serving. It’s nice to pair well, but it’s also fun just to open three or four bottles of decent st
