Yes, you can. Be sure to select the proper adhesive for this purpose(not mortar). THE LINOLEUM WILL NOT COME UP as it is glued to the underlaymnent in such a way that the entire underlayment (the material the lino is glued to)-usually particle board) is removed and replaced The glue holding down lino is tough believe me. I did this in a high-traffic kitchen, dining room and office, 5 years ago, they are really the high use areas of this house and today they are still holding perfectly.
