You can’t. Trapping birds is totally illegal in nearly all the states. It falls into the same catagory as cruelty to animals and has a very hefty jail sentence and fine. To legally do this – you need to obtain a special permit from your state dept of Fish and Game. The permits are usually free – and – they probably have traps you can borrow. It all depends on if this is part of research or a college project. If you are just some kind of bird molester – then no.
