How long will a yurt last?
A lot of it depends on how well it is taken care of. We have done our best to build our shelters using materials, techniques and finishes that insure a yurt that lasts for years. Excessive moisture and ultraviolet light are the two things that can degrade natural materials rapidly. We would expect the canvas, if left out year round to last 3 to 5 years in a constant high uv environment. If used for multiple trips throughout the year and stored carefully, the canvas should last well beyond that. Our frames, roof ring and roof poles should last indefinitely with proper care. The wood will require periodic maintenance on the finish to keep moisture away.
