Metaphysical means “beyond physical”. People who study metaphysics learn about the laws of the universe, or natural law. This is the law Jesus came to teach in the N.T The people who understood were driven “underground” because most of the people didn’t understand Jesus and dragged the beliefs of the fear-based religion of the day along with them. Those who did understand created secret societies like the mystery schools. But people don’t generally use the term in that way. I mean, we don’t call electricity metaphysical do we? It’s mostly used to describe a people who study the laws.
