What cuban-american means…?
I think you could call yourself American or Cuban-American. Use the latter if you want to highlight your heritage. Most Americans have ancestors who came from somewhere else. I think when your parents are from another country and you were raised with a lot of those traditions it’s an accurate term. When it’s grandparents or other family it becomes less of an influence. By the third generation most immigrant families are pretty integrated into American customs.
Well, I guess you would say that you are a Puerto Rican born Cuban-American. As Tiburón said. Simple as that. Is your dad of Puerto Rican descent? If so, then you’re Puerto Rican/Cuban-American. Besides, PR and Cuban cultures are very similar. Just be proud of who are on the inside. That’s what really matters. *edit: there seems to be some confusion about what a Cuban American is. Here is a reference for you: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cuban_Ameri… “A Cuban American (Spanish: Cubano americano) is a United States citizen who traces his or her “national origin” to Cuba. Cuban Americans are also considered native born Americans with Cuban parents.
