Can GRAPHITE be poisonus?

Graphite is pretty non-reactive. Here is a site giving the MSDS information about graphite. http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/… For the most part, it is safe. Inhaled, it can be dangerous, but so can sand. They do not cover it in the blood stream, I guess that is not a normal industry situation. However, it is non-reactive. Graphite does not react with many different chemicals. The ones that it can react with are usually not found in the human body. I would be more worried about infection caused by bacteria on the graphite than by graphite poisoning. The MSDS link does say that graphite can cause stomach problems which can lead to vomitting. However, this probably has more to do with the stomach not being able to do anything with it than with poisoning. I doubt a little graphite in water will cause much.
