What is cold forging?
Cold forging is a forging process that forged a metal below the recrystallization temperature. Cold forging usually refers to the forging at room temperature. The temperature is higher than room temperature, but less than the recrystallization temperature known as the warm forging. Features of cold forging 1. Cold forgings have good surface quality and high precision size. Cold forging products can reduce some machining and cutting process. Cold forging of metal could improve the strength of parts. 2. Cold forging does not require heating the material. Some materials could not be used in cold forging as their hardness reason. 3. The size of cold forging products is relatively small. At beginning, most cold forgings are screws, bolts, nuts and other products. What materials were used in cold forging? Most of Cold forging materials are smaller deformation resistance and good plastic at room temperature such as aluminum alloy, copper and some alloys, low carbon steel, medium carbon steel,
