What are CLEP and DANTES?
CLEP and DANTES are college examinations that provide college equivalency on successful completion. Taking a exam for College Algebra, for example, might count for the same credits as taking a College Algebra class at CCA. However, while CLEP and DANTES are widely recognized, other colleges and universities may require you pass at a different level to be considered equivalent to one of their classes. If you know you want to transfer to a specific university for a Bachelors after you have acquired your associates, you should consult with their advisors first. Taking the CLEP or DANTES exam at their institution might provide you with upper-division credit that cannot be awarded by a 2-year institution.
