How to take care of a corn snake?
Buying the largest enclosure you can sooner is best for the snake and also more economical than buying one or two throughout it’s life; so a 20 or 25 gallon would be your best option. Provide hiding areas for your snake as well as elevated areas such as secured branches and rocks. You should have a hide on each side of the enclosure; the cool area and the warm area. The warm area should be heated to between 75-85 degrees F with a combination of an under tank heating pad and a low wattage heat bulb. No other special lighting is required. Newspaper, paper towel, pine/wood chips (not cedar), Repti Carpet, or crushed walnut shells are all popular and convenient as substrates. These can be spot cleaned daily for excrement and should be changed completely once to twice a month. You should provide a water bowl large enough for the snake to soak in and the water should be changed daily as they are known to defecate in it. As far as feeding goes, it depends on the size of the snake. Hatchlings
