What was the Scopes Monkey Trail?
The scopes trial was the basis for the book “inherit the Wind” which was later made into a movie. It was the trail of a teacher who taught evolution even though he was prohibited from doing so by state law. Two of the foremost speakers of the day (Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryant) were the lawyers (for the defense and prosecution, respectively) and it was highly publicized at the time.
