Baboons (Papio species, commonly Papio anubis, Papio cynocephalus) are African primates that spend more time on the ground than macaques. They live in thorn scrub, savanna, and dry woodland habitats in northern and eastern Africa. They generally climb trees mainly to sleep, and may travel over very long distances each day to feed.
