Is kendo a good choice?
Personally, I dislike the other answers people have given because I am a Kendoka, ie, I learn and train in Kendo. Kendo is not sword fighting. Kendo is a martial art with a spiritual and physical focus and aspects. You can not expect to succeed in Kendo without both. While I have nothing against Karate, and I know not much about it, I of course will say Kendo. Kendo provides you with a very good cardio workout, it also builds your muscles, endurance, stamina, speed, it is very good for exercise. But it also provides aspects of discipline. Don’t get me wrong, Karate also does this too, but in Kendo there is the concept of zanshin, which is to follow through with your actions. To ensure that your cut/strike is good and appropriate and that your opponent has no opportunity to strike back or survive.
