What causes shooting nerve pain?

It could be a Neurological problem. You need to go to your family doctor and get a referral to a Neurologist. There are medications that your family doctor can start you on to ease your pain while waiting to find out what is going on. If you truly do have something Neurological going on, you are at the start of a long journey. I could go on and on from the very first pains (very similar to yours) to what is going on now, 3 1/2 years later. You will have to advocate for yourself every step of the way. If your doctor thinks he can get away with telling you its some sort of Neuralgia and give you a prescription and send you on your way, he will. Doctors don’t tell us but Neuralgia is a fancy way of saying pain.Well, duh, I told my doctor…I am very aware that I am in pain. I am here because I want to know why. I am just saying all of this to tell you that there are a lot of people going through this and a lot of doctors who make us virtually beg them to help us. I am finally near the end
