How do you count cards in blackjack?
Well, it’s a lot harder to count cards now than it used to be as the casinos now all use 6 decks of cards and reshuffle them quite frequently, so it’s hard to get an edge. For home games though where you’re playing with one or two packs, it’s a lot easier. The basic way to count cards is to give a range of cards a value and keep track of each card that you see (your hands, other players hands, the dealer etc.). Generally you would want to assign the following values to each card: A-5 = -1 6-9= 0 10-J-Q-K = +1 So if you get dealt J-8, the score is +1, if the dealer has Q-J, that’s +1 for the Q, +1 for the J giving the total current score of +3 etc. If your total score is +ve, then that means there are more small cards left in the deck and therefore you have a better chance of drawing a small card next, if your total is -ve then there is a greater chance you’ll draw a big card next.
