It’s not my place to discourage someone from following their dreams, but becoming a professional pool player requires more than most people are willing or able to provide. First, you need to get some formal instruction to get your fundamentals in order. Seek out a quality, certified instructor. Go to the BCA website to find a teacher or a training academy near you. Without a solid foundation, nothing you learn will work or make any sense. Second, you need to spend a great deal of time practicing. That doesn’t mean spending hours knocking balls around and learning by process of elimination. That’s a huge waste of your time. You need to identify your strenghts and your weaknesses and spend the bulk of your practice time improving your weaknesses. Working on what you’re already good at won’t bring up the level of your game. Third, you need to compete. Play against players of equal or slightly higher skill level.
