Why is Xfire In-Game not working on Windows Vista?
As of Xfire 1.78, Xfire no longer runs at an elevated or “admin” status. Do not use the “Right click | Run as administrator” command when launching Xfire. This may cause Xfire to be unable to detect some games or enable Xfire In-Game Messaging. If you launch Xfire “as admin” and then launch a game from the Xfire Tools | Launch menu, you could be running Xfire and the game at two different permissions levels and XIG will not work. If a game needs to be run as admin, Xfire will launch it that way. Another possibility is that we have intentionally disabled Xfire In-Game for Vista due to poor performance or crashes found by our QA department. To find out if a specific game has no XIG support on Vista visit this thread in our Tech Support OPEN forum. If this is not the case for you, take a look at some of the other common reasons Xfire In-Game would not function. FAQ here: http://www.xfire.
